Meet your therapist: Donn DimondKent MorimatsuShana Basom

physical-therapyHere at The KOR, our philosophy differs from the “typical” physical therapy philosophy. First and foremost, our initial examination sets us apart. We become your own personal detective to find the true cause of your injury or disability.  We use hand-held dynamometers to assess your muscle strength and record a legitimate baseline to fully understand your deficit. This lets us know which muscles need to be strengthened and which strength ratios need to be addressed. We also look beyond the actual injured joint and assess whether or not another part of the body is contributing to your injury.  We have been told that what really sets us apart in this initial evaluation is that we discover what’s wrong now, and work on a treatment schedule to fix it.

Second, our facility and therapy routine was designed to work with professional and high level amateur athletes, which provides the perfect scalable model to work with the individual needs of each athlete within their sport, or active lifestyler who wants to get back to pain free movement.  We use very specific exercises and manual therapy (mobilizations and soft tissue work) to help our patients reach their goals. Our clinical equipment and routines differ from most other clinics and gyms as well because we believe that the typical program may not offer the fastest, safest way back to health. We also believe in measuring our outcomes vs. other clinics and to do so we use an electronic medical record system that allows us to track our (your) outcomes on anything that can be measured.  Part of a national program to measure our outcomes vs. our peers, we push ourselves to set the standard for recovery and strength-based training.  If value is defined as outcomes divided by cost, then our goal is to provide strong results-based outcomes at a reasonable cost.

Last but not least we feel our clinicians set us apart.  Each patient works with their own therapist one on one--no therapy extenders. Our therapists are teachers and lecture to other therapists on how to treat various impairments and limitations along with authoring several books and chapters. Our therapists are also passionate about what they do and strive to meet our motto: “Saving the Athlete”.

  • Hanna Williams, a fifth-year LPGA Tour member, reached a milestone for any golfer -- her first professional victory!

Hanna Williams has been working with a trainer, Beaverton-based Donn Dimond of The KOR PT, who has helped her become stronger and more flexible. The work helped her better use the swing she has been building with instructor Gary Gilchrist. Hanna Williams started working with Gilchrist -- who has worked with Michelle Wie, Sean O'Hair and Suzann Pettersen -- in July 2007.

"He was one of the first people to tell me that I need to get stronger to achieve things in my swing and be more flexible," Hanna Williams said.
