Acupuncture

Meet your therapist: Kevin Nakaji

Our acupuncture treatments involve a comprehensive consultation to determine key health issues relevant to the symptoms currently present.  After a thorough analysis of subjective and objective feedback, including an assessment involving Chinese medical pulse and tongue diagnosis, we utilize a custom blend of acupuncture systems and techniques to provide the best treatment protocol for the individual client.  This may include gentle, relaxing sessions for first time patients to very aggressive treatments for those who are prepared.

We specialize in relieving client’s pain and dysfunction, especially due to sports trauma, work related injuries, or motor vehicle accidents. Rest assured our therapists draw upon their diverse training and experience, such as participating in many sporting activities, training in China, and teaching at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, all of which help diagnose and treat your issue.  We have also successfully treated many other health concerns, including allergies, headaches/migraines, anxiety/depression, digestive/GI concerns, colds/flu, and insomnia.

Kevin Nakaji

Kevin Nakaji’s acupuncture treatments are as relaxing as Kevin’s personality.  Many patient’s leave his acupuncture treatments with a renewed and refreshed spirit, un-attached to the stress that previously plagued them, and confident knowing that the proper repair mechanisms within their body are being restored to help them heal as efficiently as possible.  His treatments emphasizes modern day approaches to an ancient art form, applying a straight-forward yet gentle style even for those who have never tried it before.

Kevin received his undergraduate degree in Nutrition from Colorado State University and his master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (where he continues to teach student/interns).  He has been in practice for the past 9 years and specializes in treating orthopedic trauma and pain syndromes, including sports injuries, motor vehicle accidents, and repetitive strain disorders.  His career as an acupuncturist stemmed from his training in the martial arts which he has been practicing for the past 17 years and teaching for the past 8 years.  He continues to train under his teacher, He Jinbao, from Beijing, China and is solely responsible for his yearly Fall training intensive in Portland, OR.

Kevin enjoys spending family time with his wife Jinah, and two children, Norah (3) and Dylan (1.5).  You probably can catch them at their favorite hang-outs (weather permitting!) - the zoo, Rhododendron garden, farmer’s market (PSU location), and/or Laurelhurst park.

KOR NEWS
  • Hanna Williams, a fifth-year LPGA Tour member, reached a milestone for any golfer -- her first professional victory!

Hanna Williams has been working with a trainer, Beaverton-based Donn Dimond of The KOR PT, who has helped her become stronger and more flexible. The work helped her better use the swing she has been building with instructor Gary Gilchrist. Hanna Williams started working with Gilchrist -- who has worked with Michelle Wie, Sean O'Hair and Suzann Pettersen -- in July 2007.

"He was one of the first people to tell me that I need to get stronger to achieve things in my swing and be more flexible," Hanna Williams said.
